The Cold I Breathe

Set in the harsh, unforgiving wilderness of the Canadian Yukon, ‘The Cold I Breathe’ is a short story about perseverance and hope in the face of the overwhelming , deadly unknown.

Dr. Halwen Lear awakens, half-dead and nearly frozen, face-down in a copse with several wounds and little to no memory. He must pull himself together as he retraces faint clues and faded recollections in search of his missing wife, Dr. Ellen Lear. But the elements are unforgiving and the fauna are acting strangely, as if some great, undetectable disaster has changed the world without warning or sign. Hunted by wolves, slowly freezing to death, and unsure of his every step, Halwen pushes on against all odds to find the only thing left in the world that matters.

Sample sections from ‘The Cold I Breathe’ will be available soon, and I look forward to any and all feedback.

Cheers,

Cope, Trevor V.
